Widespread adoption of artificial intelligence, automation, and the digital economy will lead to massive structural unemployment, according to Russian Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev in an article for the Expert magazine.
He argues that the rational replacement of workers with AI to reduce costs will result in the elimination of many currently important professions.
"It is clear that the broad use of AI threatens the jobs of millions of people and, consequently, creates the conditions for exponential growth in unemployment and disruption of international labor division chains," he stated.
