Russian Lower House Bans Deportation of Foreigners Participating in Special Military Operation

Russian lawmakers have passed a bill in the second and third readings that prohibits administrative expulsion from Russia of foreign citizens or stateless individuals who have served in the Russian military under contract and participated in combat operations as part of the Russian Armed Forces or military units.

In cases where a foreign citizen commits an offense in Russia that would normally result in deportation, the punishment will be a fine or community service ranging from 100 to 200 hours.
