Women make up 45.5% of self-employed individuals in Russia, men 54.5%

Women make up 45.5% of active individual entrepreneurs in Russia, with men accounting for the remaining 54.5%, according to a study by Rusprofile cited by TASS.

In total, 7.9 million women have started their own businesses in the country. It was noted that there was a boom in the number of women opening individual entrepreneurships (IP) in 2023, when the number of new female IPs increased by 27.8%, while the number of men starting their own businesses rose by 17.5%.

Over the past year, the ratio of female to male individual entrepreneurs has changed significantly. In 2025, women accounted for 44.9% of individual entrepreneurs, while men made up 55.1%.
