Record Electricity Consumption Reported in Central and Northwestern Power Grids

Electricity consumption records have been set in the Central and Northwestern interconnected power systems, as well as in the regional power systems of Moscow and St. Petersburg, according to the System Operator.

On February 3, a new record for electricity consumption was set in the Central Interconnected Power System (OES Center) at 43.208 GW, which is 2.185 GW higher than the previous record set in January 2024. The Moscow power system also set a new record on the same day, reaching 21.126 GW (an increase of 1.243 GW compared to the December 2024 record).

The Northwestern Interconnected Power System (OES North-West) broke its record on February 2, reaching 15.772 GW (an increase of 121 MW compared to the January 2024 maximum). In St. Petersburg, the figure reached 8.358 GW (an increase of 25 MW compared to January 2024).
