Gold hits record high above $4,900 per ounce

Gold prices on global markets have hit a new all-time high. Futures contracts for gold deliverable in February 2026 on the Comex exchange, part of the New York Mercantile Exchange, have for the first time surpassed the $4,900 mark per troy ounce.
According to trading data, by 5:35 pm Moscow time (2:35 pm GMT), gold prices reached $4,900.6 per ounce, showing a growth of 1.3%. Just a few minutes later, by 5:43 pm Moscow time (2:43 pm GMT), the upward trend accelerated: the price rose to $4,902 per ounce, with a daily increase of 1.33%.
The rally also affected the silver market. Futures for delivery in March 2026 have also reached a new historical high, settling at $96.26 per troy ounce. The increase in silver prices was even more pronounced - nearly 4% during the trading session.
