In Russia, the annual limit on overtime work may be doubled - from 120 to 240 hours. The relevant amendments to the Labor Code are being prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Labor, reports RBC citing the document.
Currently, the law allows employers to require employees to work overtime, but not more than four hours within two consecutive days and 120 hours per year. The first two hours of overtime are paid at 1.5 times the regular wage, and subsequent hours are paid at double the regular wage.
It is planned that the annual norm of overtime work will be increased by April 2026.
In 2024, the Ministry of Economic Development stated the need to lift legislative restrictions on the labor market, due to a labor shortage. The government supported the initiative, but the Presidential State Legal Affairs Office issued a negative review on the corresponding bill.
