Foreign Scientists, Technologists, and Businessmen Will Get a Special Status in Russia upon Relocation

President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed an order that will grant special status to talented foreign citizens who decide to relocate to Russia. The document is aimed at attracting high-skilled specialists who have made significant achievements in key areas of state development. The program officially begins on April 15, 2026. It provides foreign nationals with a special status that can be applied for by both citizens and non-citizens who: - Have outstanding results in science, technology, production, sports, creative industries, and culture; - Have made a substantial contribution to the development of the Russian economy, society, defense, and security; - Possess unique and highly sought-after professional skills, specialties, or qualifications. The decree titled "On Supporting the Relocation of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons of Interest to the Russian Federation and on the Features of Their Legal Status" defines the procedure for submitting petitions and legal norms for this new category of immigrants.
