The Russian market of marketplaces is unregulated; in fact, these platforms remain outside competition, especially regarding taxation issues. This opinion was expressed by the head of Sberbank, German Gref, at the Central Bank conference.
"According to our estimates, marketplaces underpaid taxes by 1.5 trillion rubles this year. That is, all the discounts they give are at our expense. I have no sympathy for the physical retail network, but I find it unpleasant when marketplaces unfairly take market share from physical retailers due to non-market competition conditions created by the state," Gref was quoted by TASS.
