Russia will have a serious role in the development of a new Syria - Syrian President Al-Sharaa

The Kremlin hosted a meeting between the Presidents of the Russian Federation and Syria, Vladimir Putin and Ahmed Sharaa, who is in Russia on a working visit. The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Russian-Syrian relations. 

Welcoming his colleague, Vladimir Putin recalled the long-standing friendly and strong relations between the two countries. According to him, the Russian Federation has always been guided by the interests of the Syrian people in its relations with Syria. He stressed that Syria is currently going through difficult times, but the parliamentary elections will serve as a foundation for strengthening cooperation between all political forces. Putin called the victory of the pro-presidential forces in Syria a great success and a step towards consolidating society.

Ahmed Sharaa, in turn, said that a new day has come for Syria and now the new Syria needs to be introduced to the world. The country plans to rely on Russia in this process.

"We are making efforts to develop our political goals and we understand that Russia will have a serious role in this process," Sharaa said. - We will try to restart the complex of our relations and introduce you, among others, to the new Syria.
