In Russia, chicken eggs have become one of the cheapest food products. This is reported with reference to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture. "Kommersant".

As of September 3, the average price of a dozen eggs of the first category from producers dropped to 53.3 rubles, which is 26.5% lower than last year. A dozen eggs of the second category decreased to 40 rubles, a decrease of 31.9%.

Market experts explain this dynamic by overproduction of products and demand that has not yet recovered after a period of high prices. Currently, egg production reaches more than 120% of domestic consumption. According to Rosstat, in January-July, egg production in the country increased by 6.3% year-on-year, to 23.18 billion eggs. Poultry numbers increased by 0.9% to 483.8 million.
