According to Infoline research, the turnover of the ten largest Russian retailers in the first half of 2025 amounted to 6.8 trillion rubles, showing an increase of 14.1% year on year, Vedomosti writes. A year earlier, the dynamics was 22.2%. The share of these companies in the total turnover increased by only 0.1 percentage points, reaching 30.9%.
The slowdown in growth is due to a drop in consumer demand. According to Rosstat, retail sales in January and July increased by only 2.1% compared to 9.5% a year earlier.
The dynamics were negatively affected by a drop in sales of machinery and electronics, a strengthening of the ruble, a decrease in the number of transactions in the new building market, and a high key interest rate limiting credit demand.
At the same time, marketplaces are showing higher performance, increasing turnover by 25.1% to 4.25 trillion rubles.
