Several large Russian confectionery companies have approached the authorities with a proposal to abolish the duties imposed in May 2025 on the import of cocoa products in the amount of 3%–5%. This is reported by "Kommersant".

According to the manufacturers of sweets, the measures introduced earlier increase the cost of production, as well as reduce export competitiveness.

They noted that in addition to the general increase in production costs, the situation is aggravated by the record increase in prices for cocoa beans on world markets. Thus, since the beginning of 2024, futures for these products have increased by 75%, to 7.36 thousand dollars per ton. Against this background, the cost of chocolate in Russia increased by 25% over the year, and retail prices rose by 30.8%.>
