The State Duma adopted the law on the regulation of data center activities in Russia

The State Duma has adopted a law on the regulation of data processing centers (data centers) in Russia.

The main provisions of the law provide for permission to build data centers under concession agreements, the possibility of creating data centers through public-private partnership projects, and a ban on the placement of mining equipment in data centers.

The ban on the placement of mining equipment was introduced specifically in order to exclude the possibility of miners using benefits and allowances intended for data centers.

The law will come into force on March 1, 2026.

This regulation is aimed at creating a transparent legal framework for the development of data processing infrastructure in Russia and ensuring the security of digital information.
