This year, the number of criminal cases sent to the courts against migrants has increased by 15%

In Russia, the number of criminal cases brought to court against migrants increased by 15% in the first five months of 2025. This was stated by the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, during an operational meeting on the investigation of crimes in the field of migration.

He noted that in addition, territorial divisions are investigating cases against officials who have committed crimes in the field of migration registration. The number of such cases has increased by 21% over the past period.

The total number of crimes committed by foreign citizens increased by 10% year on year, to 19 thousand. Of these, the number of sexual assaults by migrants increased by 22%, and especially serious crimes by 57%.

Since the beginning of the year, about 12.5 thousand visitors have violated the law in Russia.
