In Russia in 2025, sales of new cars of all segments may be 25-30% lower than the level of the previous year. This opinion was voiced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov in an interview with TASS.
- In the current conditions, we hope that the decline in sales of new cars in all segments will be kept within 25-30% year-on-year, at the level of approximately 1.3 million units. Reasonable production volumes at domestic sites, which will not increase the pressure of wastewater, in this case - 700-800 thousand, - said the head of the department.
In the first five months of 2025, the year-on-year decline has already reached 28%. According to Alikhanov, the car market is currently being affected by high car loan rates and consumer expectations, which are generating pent-up demand.
