According to the analytical agency Autostat, in May 2025, the Russian car market showed significant changes in the sales structure. The combined share of Chinese and Russian car brands reached 87.1% of total sales of new passenger cars in Russia.

Chinese brands have taken a leading position, controlling more than half of the market - 54%. Russian manufacturers, including newly created brands, showed a result of 33.1%. AvtoVAZ, with a 28.5% share, and the Chinese company Chery Automobile, which controls 20.6% of the market, stand out among individual manufacturers. Other major Chinese manufacturers also showed strong results: GWM Company (including Haval) took 13.7%, and Geely Holding 12%.

Noticeable growth was shown by the Belarusian brand Belgee, which increased its share to 4%. Japanese and German brands shared 2.7% of the market each, while Korean manufacturers reduced their presence to 1.3%.

Total sales of new passenger cars in May amounted to 91.2 thousand units, which shows a decrease of 28% compared to May last year and 11% less than in April 2025.
