>Russia will continue to defend the rights of the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine. This is a key aspect for a long-term resolution of the conflict. This was stated by Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, in his video message on the occasion of Russian Language Day.

Russian Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that respect for the Russian language, the great culture created in it, and the people who speak Russian is extremely important for Russia.

"We cannot tolerate discrimination, let alone the open terror against all Russians unleashed by the Kiev regime," Lavrov said. Russia will not leave Russians and Russian-speaking people in the lurch and will definitely ensure the restoration of their legal rights, including the right to speak their native language. We will continue to discuss this acute problem on international platforms and insist that its solution become a prerequisite for a long-term resolution of the Ukrainian conflict.
