Diamond exports to Russia fell by 28.7%

In 2024, the Russian diamond industry faced serious difficulties. According to the Kimberley Process, diamond exports fell by 28.7% to $2.623 billion. The physical volume of supplies decreased by 6.3% to 30.371 million carats. The average price per carat decreased by 23.9% to 86.36 dollars.

Diamond imports decreased 10-fold to $1,153 million. The average price of imported stones dropped to $5.54 per carat.

At the same time, diamond production volumes increased to 37.323 million carats, but this did not help offset the overall decline in the industry.

Experts attribute the deterioration of the situation to changes in demand on the global market, sanctions, increased competition and economic factors.
