The profitability of bank deposits in Russia has decreased and now does not exceed the level of the key interest rate. As of May 2025, the rates ranged from 18.5% to 19.2%, depending on the deposit period. At the beginning of the year, many banks offered higher interest rates of 21-22%. This is reported by TASS with reference to Igor Alutin, Senior Managing Director of the Moscow Stock Exchange.
Since the beginning of the year, rates have decreased by 1.8 to 2.5 percentage points. Only one bank out of the top 20 currently offers an interest rate higher than the key one (21%). At the beginning of the year, there were 16 out of 20 such offers, especially for deposits for a period of six months.
