Mazda and Toyota cars will not be officially sold in Russia. The Japanese Toyota brand is not planning to enter the Russian market yet.
Earlier, there were reports on the sale of new Mazda cars in some Russian car dealerships. There were also announcements about the sale of new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs.
The information was refuted by auto experts. Maxim Kadakov, in an interview with TASS, said that in order to start the official sale, it is necessary to return the company at the representative office level. After that, the carmaker must certify its vehicles for the Russian market. Reports on the sale of new foreign cars may be related to single car imports into Russia.«We must calmly treat all these statements that some company has started selling something… Today cars are being driven, tomorrow they may not be lucky, tomorrow some other models, modifications, and so on will be driven. Therefore, we will hear periodically that some company has also started to carry cars," Kadakov said.
The auto expert noted that Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi, Subaru, and Suzuki have representative offices in Russia, but they are not officially selling their cars at the moment either.«Needs a representative office, official cars are needed, and for this they need to be certified, they need OTTS (vehicle type approval) and so on,& Maxim Kadakov said.
