A swarm of nanosatellites will be developed and launched into space in Russia

Kirill Dmitriev, who heads the Russian Direct Investment Fund and is an adviser to the president on investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, announced plans to create a hundred CubeSat small satellites.

According to him, the relevant agreement was concluded between Roscosmos and Bauman Moscow State Technical University.The developers will try to achieve an optimal ratio of dimensions and payload volume.  

"Nanosatellites will be used to solve applied and scientific problems. It provides for the development of domestic equipment - from optical and meteorological systems to relay and navigation devices", - said Dmitriev.

CubeSats are small satellites that are supposed to "open up space" for private companies and university students. Their weight is very small, and each nanosatellite consists of "cubes&"weighing 1.33 kg."/p>
