German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz said that restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Kiev by Germany and its allies have now been lifted.

"There are no longer any restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Ukraine. This applies to the UK, France, Germany and the USA," he said at a forum organized by the WDR broadcasting company.

Merz stressed that Ukraine can now attack military installations in Russia. Previously, this was not possible or occurred in exceptional cases. Now, according to the Chancellor, it has become possible. He also noted that the German authorities seek to ensure that Kiev strikes exclusively at military targets.

The German government had previously decided not to disclose information about arms shipments to Ukraine after three years of transparency. According to Berlin, this decision is aimed at creating "strategic uncertainty" in order to hide their actions from the enemy. However, in mid-May, Merz announced that Germany had no plans to transfer long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.
