State Duma deputies Yevgeny Marchenko and Alexander Borodai have introduced a bill prohibiting the division of payments for participation in their divorce after February 24, 2022. The document is available to TASS.
Thus, the law, if adopted, will change the Family Code of the Russian Federation, recognizing such payments as personal property and excluding them from the division of property. The law will come into force after its official publication and will apply to marriages that were dissolved before its entry into force, if the division of property has not yet been completed. The authors claim that the changes are aimed at preventing fictitious marriages for material gain and protecting the rights of their participants.
