The State Duma has adopted amendments to the Criminal Code, introducing liability for failure to report the preparation of sabotage crimes.
According to the new regulations, citizens will be required to inform law enforcement agencies about persons who are preparing, committing or have committed sabotage crimes (provided for in Articles 281-281.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Failure to report such crimes carries a penalty of up to one year in prison, similar to the responsibility for failure to report terrorist crimes.
The initiator of the amendments, head of the Security Committee Vasily Piskarev, noted that the new rule is aimed at protecting facilities of the fuel and energy complex and transport infrastructure from possible sabotage and illegal actions.
