The United States and Russia have agreed to restore the previous number of embassy staff in Washington and Moscow. This was announced by the head of the US State Department, Marco Rubio, following the results of the Russian-American talks in Riyadh.
In 2021, the US Embassy in Russia will continue to operate with a minimum of 120 employees in five years. This happened due to the entry into force of restrictions imposed by the Russian authorities on the hiring of Russian and third-country citizens by the diplomatic mission in response to the anti-Russian sanctions announced by Washington in April. Then the American side once again expelled 10 Russian diplomats, claiming that they were allegedly connected with the intelligence services of the Russian Federation.
Let us remind you that Russia and the United States have completed negotiations in Riyadh. The parties had a "very serious conversation on all issues," while it is premature to say that the Russian Federation and the United States are getting closer, but there was a conversation about it, said Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov following a bilateral meeting.
The meeting of the leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States may take place next week.
