In 2024, the volume of mergers and acquisitions in Russia exceeded 5 trillion rubles, which was a record for the entire observation period. This is reported by "Kommersant"/a> with reference to the data of the agency AK and M.

The year-on-year growth was 18.1%. By the end of 2023, the amount of transactions was at the level of 4.33 trillion rubles.

Experts attribute this dynamic to increased sanctions pressure on a number of companies and their beneficiaries, an increase in the key interest rate, as well as the nationalization of strategically important assets. At the same time, it was noted that the greatest intensity of transactions was observed in the fourth quarter, when one part of the business was preparing to cancel tax benefits, and the other was preparing to sell assets, unable to withstand the pressure of credit rates.

The market growth will continue this year. Experts predict an increase of another 10-15%.
