At the plenary session, the members of the Federation Council approved the law on the cooling-off period for consumer loans. The law was adopted in order to protect citizens from the actions of fraudsters.

The new rule assumes that credit institutions will transfer funds to the borrower only after 4 hours from the moment of signing a loan agreement in the amount of 50,000 to 200,000 rubles, and not earlier than two days later if the amount exceeds 200,000 rubles.

Also, if a criminal case is initiated on loan fraud and a credit institution fails to comply with customer protection requirements, it will become impossible to collect debts on such loans and transfer loans to collectors.

The day before, the relevant law was adopted by the State Duma.
