The Federal Antimonopoly Service has sent requests to the largest manufacturers of raw materials for plastic packaging to explain the reasons for the change in product prices. This was reported by the press service of the department.

The FAS plans to analyze the validity of price increases for polyethylene terephthalate (PET), BOPET films and PET granules. In particular, the structures of Tatneft, SIBUR and other manufacturers should provide information on the reasons for the change in the value of these goods. If violations of the antimonopoly legislation are detected, the agency will take appropriate response measures.

According to various estimates, in 2024, against the background of a shortage of polymer (PET), its cost increased by 28%.
