The State Duma Committee on Economic Policy recommended the adoption in the first reading of a bill on the regulation of advertising services related to the bankruptcy of citizens. According to the draft law, advertisers, in particular those launching aggressive campaigns, will no longer be able to promise people exemption from fulfilling monetary obligations. On the contrary, they will be required to disclose the consequences of the bankruptcy procedure. But most importantly, the advertisement will include a postscript about the possibility of conducting bankruptcy proceedings for free in accordance with the law. Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, is behind the bill. If adopted, the norm may be effective from March 1, 2025.
