Last year, exports of ferrous metals from Russia to China halved to $368.9 million, which is the lowest figure since 2019, RIA Novosti calculated based on Chinese customs data.

The main decrease was due to a 54% decrease in exports of semi-finished products made of iron and non-alloy steel, to $200.4 million, and the cessation of cast iron supplies. The total volume of dropped supplies amounted to 408.9 million dollars.

Although ferroalloy exports increased fourfold to $98.5 million, the total volume did not compensate for the decline. By the end of the year, Russia ranked tenth in Chinese imports of ferrous metals. In December 2024, imports amounted to $27.5 million, which is 1.9 times less than a year earlier, but 29.4% more than in November.
