By its decree, the Russian government approved the passport of the third stage of modernization of the railway infrastructure of the main railway lines of the country, the BAM and the Transsib. This is reported by the publication «Kommersant ».

The goal of the new modernization of the BAM and Transsib is to achieve the carrying capacity of the main Siberian highways to 210 million tons by 2030, and by the end of 2032, to 270 million tons. The total cost of the third stage, according to the passport, will be 3.74trillion rubles. As part of the third stage, about 2 thousand kilometers of new tracks will be laid, and four large and expensive artificial structures will be built.

As far as is known, in the framework of the third stage, according to the project passport, the entire length of the BAM from Lena to Vanino, the links with the Tynda-Bamovskaya and Komsomolsk Transsib, and the Transsib from Tayshet to the Danube station should be expanded so that to pass trains weighing 7.1 thousand tons. Slightly lower capacity is planned for the sections Baranovsky-Khasan (6.3 thousand tons) and Smolyaninovo-Nakhodka (6.7 thousand tons, before the construction of its bypass by 2035, when the mass of trains will be pulled up to 7.1 thousand tons).
