### Russian Ruble Slips Against Major Currencies by 0.3% on Monday
On Monday, the Russian ruble is experiencing a slight decline against a basket of major currencies, losing about 0.3% in value.
On the interbank market, the ruble is trading at the following rates:
- **Ruble to Chinese Yuan (CNY/RUB):** 12.24 rubles per yuan.
- **Ruble to US Dollar (USD/RUB):** 82.60 rubles per dollar.
It is worth noting that the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) has updated its methodology for setting official exchange rates starting December 27, 2024. The new approach incorporates data from both exchange-traded and over-the-counter segments of the foreign exchange market. This change is intended to enhance the representativeness of official rates, particularly as off-exchange transactions grow in volume. The decision was formalized in CBR Regulation No. 6956-U.
Additionally, starting June 8, 2026, the CBR adjusted the calculation of the official euro-ruble exchange rate. Instead of using direct euro-ruble quotes, the CBR now calculates the rate through a cross-currency mechanism using data from the European Central Bank (ECB). The new formula is as follows: EUR/RUB = USD/RUB × EUR/USD (ECB data).
