EU Approves 21st Package of Anti-Russian Sanctions

The European Union has agreed on another (21st) package of anti-Russian restrictions, announced European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Von der Leyen stated that the new package of sanctions includes adding 32 more Russian banks to the blacklist, imposing sanctions on vessels of the so-called "shadow fleet," as well as targeting cryptocurrency companies and platforms trading in oil. At the same time, the adjustment of the oil price cap will be frozen for a year to prevent Russia from benefiting from fluctuations in oil prices.

Earlier, TASS, citing a diplomatic source, reported that EU ambassadors had approved a reduced 21st sanctions package. The updated version excluded a complete ban on maritime transportation of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG), which Greece had insisted on.
