Moscow Exchange Index Surges Nearly 4% to Top 2080 Points at Open

Russian stock market opened with a strong surge, as the MICEX Index (IMOEX) climbed to 2080.59 points, marking a 3.99% increase from the previous close.

During trading, the index reached an intraday high of 2082.09 points, with a low of 2070.64 points. The session began at 2075.21 points.

As of 9:57 am Moscow time, the total market capitalization of companies included in the index exceeded 5.36 trillion rubles, while trading volume stood at approximately 1.65 billion rubles.

Leading the gains were shares of Rusagro (+7.85%), Polus (+5.21%), ALROSA (+4.73%), Lenta (+4.13%), and AFK Sistema (+3.91%). The few stocks that saw declines included shares of Inarktiki (-0.12%) and BSP (-0.11%).

Despite the strong intraday rally, the MICEX Index remains below its levels at the start of the month and year: since the beginning of July, it has fallen by 11.39%, and since the start of 2026, it has dropped by 24.8%.
