Amid a "chaotic international situation" characterized by "the rampant unilateralism and hegemony," Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
"As permanent members of the UN Security Council and important world powers, China and Russia should, with an eye on long-term interests, achieve national rejuvenation through promoting high-quality comprehensive strategic interaction, and build a more just and reasonable system of global governance," Xi stated.
In his response, the Russian leader also addressed the topic of cooperation between Russia and China on foreign policy issues. He noted that "a complex process of forming a multipolar world based on the balance of interests of all its participants" is currently underway.
"Together with our Chinese friends, we defend cultural and civilizational diversity and respect for the sovereign development of states, striving to build a more just and democratic world order. In the current tense international situation, our close partnership is particularly in demand," Putin emphasized, highlighting the intensification of coordination between Russia and China on all major platforms — the UN, BRICS, the G20, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
