Auto Loans in Russia Surge 17.6% in January-February

In the first two months of 2026, the total amount of auto loans issued in Russia reached 184.4 billion rubles ($2.3 billion), marking a year-on-year increase of 17.6%, according to data from the National Credit Bureau (NБКИ), cited by TASS.

However, compared to the same period in 2024, the volume of auto loans dropped by 32.4%. In 2024, the figure stood at 272.7 billion rubles ($3.4 billion).

By region, Moscow led with 19.11 billion rubles ($240 million) in auto loans, followed by the Moscow region (15.83 billion rubles, $198 million), St. Petersburg (10.65 billion rubles, $133 million), Krasnodar Territory (10.22 billion rubles, $128 million), and Tatarstan (8.55 billion rubles, $107 million).

The most significant growth in auto loan volumes was recorded in Moscow (+30%), St. Petersburg (+28.3%), Krasnodar Territory (+26.3%), Leningrad region (+26.3%), and Sverdlovsk region (+26%).
