Essential Food Prices Decline by 1.3% in February

Retail prices for essential food products in Russian stores fell by 1.3% in February compared to the previous month, according to data from the Association of Omnichannel Retail Companies (AKORT), as reported by TASS.

Black leaf tea saw the most significant price drop (-9.5%), followed by buckwheat (-7.2%), salt (-4%), broiler chicken (-3.8%), butter (-1.9%), sunflower oil (-1.5%), mutton (-1.3%), and rice (-1%).

Year-on-year, the cost of essential food products decreased by 12%. The most notable annual declines were seen in rice (-39%), white cabbage (-35%), potatoes (-28%), salt (-27%), butter (-26%), onions (-24%), and chicken eggs (-22%).
