In Russia, 1.496 million new passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, and buses were sold in 2025, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. Year-on-year sales dropped by 19%.
It was noted that the domestic car market grew by 0.2%, reaching 831,200 units, while the market for imported cars decreased by 34% to 664,500 units.
In total, 1.317 million passenger cars (-15%), 107,100 light commercial vehicles (-24%), 57,600 trucks (-53%), and 14,300 buses (-31%) were sold over the year.
Interest in new electric vehicles also decreased. Sales of electric cars fell by 30% compared to 2024, reaching 13,500 units. The share of domestically produced electric vehicles increased from 22% to 32% year-on-year.
