Upon returning from the special military operation, former prisoners convicted of serious crimes should be monitored by law enforcement agencies, according to Valery Fadeyev, the head of the Presidential Council for Human Rights, in an interview with RBC.
- Let him come, say what qualifications he has, what kind of work he wants to do, where he wants to live, what opportunities are available. We need to establish contact with him, without violating his rights. These are people returning from war, and not simple people, you understand? We must definitely start interacting with them, Fadeyev explained.
According to him, the authorities are not yet eager to monitor former prisoners who have been on the front. This task is being delegated to NGOs. However, Fadeyev believes that activists are unlikely to handle this issue alone.
