Negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the special envoy of the U.S. President Steve Whitkoff, held at the Kremlin, focused on resolving the crisis in Ukraine. The Russian side gave the meeting a positive assessment upon its conclusion.

As reported by Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the dialogue was «productive». This brief characterization is currently the only official reaction from the meeting participants.

The negotiations, held in a limited format, included on the Russian side the presidential aide Yury Ushakov and Dmitriev himself. The American delegation, in addition to Whitkoff, included Jared Kushner, a businessman and investor, founder of Affinity Partners, who is the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump.
