In August 2025, the trade turnover between Russia and Japan amounted to 631 million dollars, which is 12.5% lower compared to the same period last year. This is reported by TASS with reference to data from the Japanese Ministry of Finance.

During this time, Japan reduced imports from Russia by 21.1%, to $421 million. Mainly due to the reduction of Russian LNG (-33.2%), coal (-44.9%), non-ferrous metals (-22.2%). Grain purchases decreased by 94.9%. At the same time, Japan increased imports of Russian fish and seafood (+62%).

>During this period, Russia increased purchases of goods from Japan by 11.8%, to $ 210 million. Purchases of computers and computer parts increased (+316.7%), plastics (+55.3%), rubber (+29%), and medical devices (+21.4%).
