Lavrov and Rubio at a personal meeting "checked the clock" on issues on the bilateral agenda

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of ASEAN ministerial events in Kuala Lumpur.

"As a follow-up to the agreements reached by the Presidents of Russia and the United States, including during their last telephone conversation on July 3, a thorough clock check was carried out on the entire range of issues on the bilateral agenda and the situation in the world. A substantive and frank exchange of views took place on the settlement of the situation around Ukraine, the situation around Iran and Syria, as well as a number of other international issues, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported following the meeting.

The parties confirmed their mutual commitment to finding a peaceful way to resolve conflict situations, discussed the restoration of economic and humanitarian cooperation between the Russian Federation and the United States, the resumption of direct flights and unhindered contacts between the two countries, and the restoration of diplomatic missions.

It was noted that the constructive dialogue between the foreign ministries of the Russian Federation and the United States will continue.
