The Ministry of Labor has denied reports of massive recruitment of foreign workers to Russia. According to the ministry, in 2025 it is planned to attract no more than 234.9 thousand migrant workers within the established quota.

Yesterday, the head of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Andrey Besedin, announced the possible involvement of a million specialists from India, as well as migrant workers from Sri Lanka and North Korea. However, the Ministry of Labor explained that quotas are formed a year in advance and are determined based on the requests of the regions and the needs of employers.

According to official information, a quota of 71,817 work permits has been set for Indian citizens across the country. For the Sverdlovsk region, where, according to Besedin, it was planned to attract a large number of foreigners, the quota is only 4,343 places for employees from any visa-eligible countries. At the same time, the Sverdlovsk quota is currently used by only 13.6%.
