According to the Association of Russian Tour Operators, organized tourists have faced serious problems with air travel. In recent days, at least 11,000 travelers have experienced delays and cancellations of flights both on vacation and on the way back.
It was especially difficult from July 5 to July 7, when several thousand flights were canceled or delayed. By Monday morning, it was already known about 2.5 thousand disrupted flights. Periodic airport closures in central Russia have worsened the situation.
The destinations to Turkey and Egypt were the most affected, as they are served by Pulkovo and Sheremetyevo airports.
The situation remains difficult, and airlines continue to address the consequences of the massive disruption, ATOR reports.
