In the first 5 months of 2025, financial indicators in the Russian coal industry deteriorated significantly. According to Dmitry Islamov, Deputy head of the Ministry of Energy, the share of unprofitable enterprises increased from 53% to 62%, and total losses in the first quarter reached 79.9 billion rubles. At the same time, the accounts payable of companies continue to increase.

The situation could have turned out to be much more serious without the implementation of anti-crisis measures. According to experts, without government intervention, the losses of coal companies could amount to 300-350 billion rubles, and accounts payable would reach 1.5 trillion rubles.
