Kirill Tremasov, Adviser to the Bank of Russia, warned about the possible risks of lowering the key rate in the current economic conditions. In his opinion, unjustified easing of monetary policy with high inflation and inflationary expectations may lead to a further acceleration of price growth.

Tremasov stressed that there is a common misconception about the direct dependence of loan rates on the key rate. According to him, real loan rates are determined by other factors, first of all, the inflation rate and inflation expectations in the economy. The lower these indicators are, the more affordable loans become for businesses and the public, Tremasov noted.
