In April 2025, the trade turnover between Russia and Japan increased by 2.48% year-on-year, to $607.6 million. This is reported by TASS with reference to data from the Japanese Ministry of Finance.
Most of the trade turnover between the two countries is occupied by Russian energy resources (35.97%) and Japanese cars (20.15% of the turnover). During the reporting period, shipments of Russian LNG and coal increased by 22.2% and 10.5%, respectively, while shipments of cars to Russia decreased by 19.4% and spare parts by 4.1%.>
Overall, shipments from Russia to Japan increased by 5.6% to $396.5 million, while shipments from Japan to Russia decreased by 3% to $211.7 million.
