Sergei Pugachev, the ex-owner of Mezhprombank, was sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison for abuse of power and embezzlement. This decision was made by the Tverskoy Court of Moscow.

Pugachev should serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony. The term of punishment will begin to be calculated from the moment of his detention in the Russian Federation or his extradition to the Russian Federation. The court also recovered from him more than 28 billion rubles in favor of the injured party and imposed a fine of 800 thousand rubles. He was deprived of the right to hold managerial positions in credit institutions for a period of three years.
