The Tambov Garrison Military Court found Major General Ivan Popov guilty of large-scale fraud and forgery. In total, he was sentenced to five years in a general regime penal colony.

Popov was also ordered to pay a fine of 800,000 rubles and stripped of his military rank.

  • Popov was arrested in May 2024. He was accused of selling almost two tons of metal products intended for the construction of fortifications in the Zaporozhye area, where the military commander was in charge of defense.
