The governments of Russia and Oman have signed an agreement on the mutual abolition of visa regimes. The ceremony took place as part of a meeting between the two heads of state, Vladimir Putin and Haysam bin Tarek Al Said in Moscow.

Previously, free 14-day visas were available for Russians to enter Oman. They were given out at the border. These visas could not be extended or exchanged for another type.

Now citizens of the Russian Federation and Oman in the territory of the two states will be able to freely enter, transit and leave without visas. The visa-free stay is designed for 30 days per visit, the total period of stay during a calendar year should not exceed 90 days.

If you need to stay in the country for more than 30 days per arrival or more than 90 days during the year, you will need to obtain a visa. The visa-free regime does not apply to those entering for permanent residence, study or work.

The agreement will officially enter into force 30 days after all necessary domestic procedures have been completed.
